hey 808'ers!

long time no post, but it doesn't mean i haven't been rip....er, surfing.

i'm in vermont for the winter, teaching snowboarding a local resort, but will still be surfing in rhode island, nyc, and wherever else around here there are waves coming in and i have a little time.

hurricane igor treated us pretty well here. it was overhead to way overhead on sunday, bigger on monday but i had to get back here to work. i scored some long, fast drops and walls at point judith lighthouse. i usually don't name spots, but this one is huge and i don't think all of you will be flying over for the next swell.

low-res shots because i forgot my good camera in the rush to get down there (it's about a three hour drive from where i'm staying in vermont). so i used my friend's point and shoot and she emailed the pix.

watch this space for more frequent posts of better quality. it should be good again later this week. bigger maybe.

i've been keeping up with neal's pix on FB and elsewhere, so i know there's been some waves...

if you notice all those beautiful empty lineup shots of rockaway are um going un ridden...........
the penninsula i grew up on has been ruined by the hipster artsy fartsy mochafrappalatte bearded kooks from williamsburgh.
its funny how the ghetto has become a glamorous place to reside.

but thanks for the memories J dubs.

yeah i know. i don't surf there much. my friends and i are usually in RI or Mass. (Cape) or Maine. But this was a good day. I have friends at Gotham Surf Club but they are really core, grew up in Australia, etc. I totally hear what you're saying about the losers there now, and my friends would agree. I don't really care, as long as the waves are good.

should be good up here in RI and Maine this weekend, and Cape. Will post pix.

btw i crack up every time a read this post. we say pretty much teh same thing. i lived in nyc (soho) in the early 90s too surfed fire island once. then moved back to SF 1991 - 1995 (i first moved out just after school in 1990 - it's where I learned to surf beginning then, small OBSF and Pacifica).

Been back here ever since, surfing Cape Cod, RI a lot as you know all over no. shore and so. shore mass., etc. But still have friend in SF and SD. Other one from here just built a house in CR. So I have a pretty good set up

be cool to get out there sometime. and i will it's only a matter of time.

Hey Hawaiians and others!

How's it going?

Doing well here in Vermont after a tough three years. Apartment burned down, girlfriend dumped me and dealing with a lot of total jerks. But..my two snowboards and three surfboards survived the fire almost intact, so the surf gods were smiling down on me.

Starting to do quite a bit more snowboarding, which is good. Haven't made it down to surf since Hurricane Igor in fricken 2010. But work really picking up again, getting new (used) car in spring and probably moving back to Providence, Rhode Island over the summer. Yes, J Dubya is victorious, and getting back on it!

So look for lots more surf pix beginning in the fall and beyond!
